MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Fort Saskatchewan Minor Fastball (FSMF) association is to nurture and promote the advancement and enjoyment of the game of softball. By instilling the principles of sportsmanship, hard work, dedication and healthy competition, we aim to establish ourselves as leaders in the development of both athletes and coaches, fostering increased self-confidence. Our association aims to equip athletes with the necessary resources to elevate their softball skills to any desired level of competition they desire.

While softball remains our primary focus, we recognize that youth sports, in general, creates leaders within the community. Through effective guidance and leadership, FSMF is dedicated to aiding youth in growing qualities such as integrity, honesty, respectfulness, politeness, generosity, confidence, teamwork all while promoting physical well being.

OUR HISTORY

In 2016, Ashlee Hlushak envisioned bringing back a sport she loved—one that had been an integral part of her own upbringing—to the Fort Saskatchewan community. She recognized the importance of providing young female athletes with the opportunity to play fastball in an environment dedicated to their growth and success. Motivated by her passion and a desire for her own daughter to experience the same camaraderie and development that she and many others had enjoyed, Ashlee embarked on a journey to establish a girls' fastball program in Fort Saskatchewan.

With determination, countless meetings, late nights, and invaluable support from local and regional sports organizations, her vision became a reality. Through collaboration with the Fort Saskatchewan Minor Sports Association, Girls Fastball was officially approved, paving the way for a new era of female sports development in our community.

The inaugural 2017 season of Fort Saskatchewan Minor Fastball (FSMF) exceeded all expectations, with over 80 young athletes signing up to play. In a remarkable display of talent and dedication, our U14 team secured a gold medal in the Edmonton league—an extraordinary achievement considering many of our players were experiencing their first season, competing against teams with years of experience. Since that groundbreaking first year, FSMF has continued to grow and achieve success, earning multiple medals in the GEMSA league, celebrating a provincial gold medal victory, and securing a dedicated fenced diamond to call home.

Beyond the accolades and accomplishments, the most meaningful impact has been on the hundreds of girls who have had the opportunity to develop their skills, form lasting friendships, and cultivate a lifelong love for the sport. FSMF has not only shaped outstanding athletes but has also contributed to the personal growth of young women, instilling values of teamwork, perseverance, and leadership.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this journey—the athletes, parents, coaches, volunteers, and supporters who have made FSMF a thriving organization. Your dedication, countless hours of driving to practices and games, and unwavering belief in our program have been instrumental in our success. To the Sliders family, thank you for trusting us with your daughters' athletic development and for being part of this incredible community.

As Ashlee steps back from her role as President, we honor her leadership and dedication in building this program from the ground up. We are confident that the organization will continue to flourish, empowering young female athletes and coaches for years to come.

We look forward to another amazing season—see you all on the field!
