GEMSA League Game Days: Tuesday/Thursday

GEMSA League Game Locations: Games will be played in greater Edmonton and surrounding areas with Fort Saskatchewan as the home field.

 

U15 Practices: These days will be set at the start of the year by the coaches depending on diamond availability in Fort Saskatchewan.

U15 Tournaments: Tournaments are determined by each individual team and their team coaches as to which tournaments will be attended and how many for that season.

 

Softball Alberta Provincials: The U15 team has the opportunity to participate in provincials depending on player availability. This will also be something that is discussed with the team and the coaches as to whether or not the team will attend. Players and parents need to commit to attending through to the provincial dates for this to be possible.

Required Equipment: Ball glove, softball cleats (no metal cleats). Personal batting helmet with face mask and chin strap. Black ball pants.

Optional Equipment: Batting gloves, ball bag, personal bat.

Provided Equipment: Each participant will be provided with a Sliders jersey for the season. FSMF will provide the team with a couple team bats. A number of appropriately sized team balls will also be provided to the coach at the beginning of the season.

Lesson Objectives:

• TO HAVE FUN!

• The U15 age group will incorporate all the required skills for softball in practice and league game scenarios as the team will have weekly games in the GEMSA league.

• Introduction to the more advanced softball pitching skills.

• Player skills are more specialized by position (infield/outfield, pitcher/catcher, etc.).

Competitive Teams: As FSMF continues to grow, the opportunity to play at a more competitive level without leaving Fort Saskatchewan is starting to become an option. As it sits with registration numbers at the U15 level, for the first time in our recent history, FSMF will field a more competitive team in 2024! Evaluations will take place with two teams being formed. one team will compete in the GEMSA "B" division and the other in the GEMSA "C/D" division. Evaluations will be announced once registration has closed and indoor facilities can be rented.

Player Transfers: FSMF will not accept outbound player transfer requests prior to February 1st (subject to team formation at the applicable level). FSMF reserves the right to wait until the current year's registration is closed then verify the number of players/teams and to conduct evaluations to determine the caliber of the team and the division they will play in. Player transfers received on or after March 1st of the current registration year and for the upcoming softball season will be evaluated based on Section E.5(d) of the Softball Alberta Handbook and a decision will be made within 7 calendar days.
